LUSAKA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — The number of Zambian companies to attend the China International Fair for Investment and Trade and Africa Commodities Exhibition has risen to 51 this year from five last year, according to Times of Zambia.

Zambia Development Agency communications manager Margaret Chimanse said most of the companies interested in participating in this year’s fair deal in gemstone products such as amethyst, citrine aquamarine and emerald while others are engaged in wooden handicrafts and curios, copper crafts, garments and herbal medicines.

She said some companies would be seeking joint venture schemes with Chinese companies during the exhibition.

She said the two events, which will take place from September 8 to 11, would provide an excellent platform for Zambian companies to showcase their products with a view to establishing long-term business contacts.

“By participating in such an exhibition, Zambian companies will be able to assess the international market for their products,” Chimanse said.
