LUSAKA, Sept.14 (Xinhua) — Zambia’s national power supplier will increase its power supply to the Chinese economic zone in Zambia, the Post reported on Sunday.

The power supply to Chambishi Economic Zone set up by the Chinese will be increased to 660 megawatts, according to the Post.

ZESCO managing director Rhodnie Sisala was quoted as saying it is aware of the need for more energy and has embarked on the process to increase its supply capacity.

Sisala said that the power supply would be increased following the rehabilitation and up-rating works going on at two power stations.

A substation worth 30 million U.S. dollars will be finalized by the end of this year and it will help supply power to the companies in the Chambishi Economic Zone, ZESOC said.
