APA-Lusaka (Zambia) Zambian President Rupiah Banda on Wednesday said he would unveil a new set of ministers and other government officials, and that the new cabinet would take office next week.
The new line-up is expected to include a number of current ministers, with several new appointments added to the numbers.
Analysts said the new president would want to stamp his own authority by appointing several new faces into the government to replace the old cabinet that was appointed by the late president Levy Mwanawasa, who died on 19 August in a Paris, France hospital.
However, the size of government is expected to remain the same despite repeated calls from stakeholders that the government was bloated and a drain on public resources.
The women’s movement is pressurising the president to appoint a woman to the position of vice president, which they say is long overdue.
