Defence Minister, George Mpombo says the Zambia army has taken position to protect the country from the fighting taking place in neighbouring, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mr. Mpombo says soldiers are on the ground to ensure the fighting in DRC does not spill over into Zambia.

He told ZNBC news in Lusaka, Sunday that the Southern African nation is well secured and Zambians should not worry.

The Defence Minister expressed great concern at the suffering that Congolese are experiencing due to the fighting between rebel forces loyal to General Laurent Nkunda and pro-government militias in Africa’s third largest nation.
