Lusaka – Zambian President Rupiah Banda was among expected SADC Regional leaders to travel to South Africa Friday to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Jacob Zuma in Pretoria.A statement released by State House here said President Banda would be accompanied to South Africa by first lady, Thandiwe, and Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande.
The South African government has also invited Zambia’s first president, Kenneth Kaunda, to the inauguration ceremony.
The theme of the inauguration is “Together celebrating a vibrant democracy and building a better life for all”.
Zuma won the 22 April presidential elections by a wide margin.
