Ministry of Health Spokesperson Rueben Mbewe said in an interview with the paper in Lusaka on Friday that the information sheet was formulated to answer some of the basic questions about the disease.

According to the fact sheet influenza A/H1N1 is a respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses and outbreaks happen regularly in pigs, adding that it is possible for the novel flu virus to spread from one person to another.

On the medication, the fact sheet states that there are recommended drugs at health facilities that can be prescribed by medical officials.

The fact sheet has further stated that there was currently no vaccine to protect against the flu virus, adding that there were daily actions which can help prevent the spread of germs that causes respiratory illnesses like influenza.

Some of the actions are covering the nose and mouth with a tissue when one is coughing or sneezing, washing hands with soap, avoiding close contact and unnecessary contact with pigs.

Zesco United outscored Djoliba of Mali to become the first Zambian club to reach the money-spinning stage of the CAF Champions League…

Zesco United fought back from a goal down to beat Mali’s Djoliba FC 2-1 in the third round, second leg match of the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

Both teams had played out a goalless draw in their first leg in Bamako, a fortnight ago, thus Zesco go through 2-1 on aggregate.

Saturday’s game at the Trade Fair Stadium in Ndola kicked off at a high tempo and the Malians drew first blood in the 44th minute with a headed goal from a corner kick.

After the break, coach Fighton Simukonda brought on Lottie Phiri for Maybin Mwaba and the change soon paid off when the left-footed winger cum striker unleashed  a shot from outside the box to draw the host team level.

Phiri’s goal lifted Zambian spirits, before striker Enoch Sakala hit the match winner with a great header to send the crowd into wild celebration.

Zesco held out to become the first Zambian club to advance to the mini-league phase of Africa’s richest club competition.

However, in the CAF Confederation Cup, Red Arrows of Zambia failed to advance to the next round of the competition, despite a hat-trick by former Under-23 star Timothy Mbewe against Egypt’s ENPPI.

Arrows played the entire second half with 10 men, after youngster Jimmy Chisenga was sent off just before the interval.

This emphatic home win was not enough, though, as the Zambians had lost the first encounter 4-0 and thus lost out 4-3 on aggregate.
